WELCOME

Leona Valley Improvement Association is a non-profit organization in northern Los Angeles County, CA.  It was formed in 1951 for the purpose of encouraging individual and family activities in rural Leona Valley. The Community Building owned and operated by LVIA has become the "home base" for many other community organizations and activities.

LVIA is the publisher of the monthly Cherry Chapters, a publication sent to each home on the rural routes of Leona Valley. The newsletter covers information about community events, as well as other items of general interest to members of the community.  Click HERE t

LVIA has no paid employees, depending entirely on volunteers for their activities and ongoing operations.  The monthly LVIA general meeting is held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the LVIA Community Building located at 8367 Elizabeth Lake Road, Leona Valley.

LVIA receives $2.50 for each box of organic produce delivered each week.

Deliveries are every Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 at the Community Building.  There is also a late pickup at 5:00.

CHILI and COBBLER COOK-OFF


SATURDAY, APRIL 15
Judging starts at 4 pm

Come join us to taste a variety of tasty chili recipes and cobblers.   Admission also includes a bowl of LVIA chili with cornbread and all the toppings.

Wine & beer are available for a $3 donation, with sodas and water at $1.

After your meal you can dance the
 night away to the "Boomers" band.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

Spicy Cauliflower Soup

2 tbsp. coconut oil
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1 onion, finely chopped
3 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
1 head cauliflower, in bite size pieces
 1 jalapeno, chopped
1 cup chopped kale
2 tsp. minced ginger
1 tbsp. coriander powder
1 tsp. turmeric powder
1 can full fat unsweetened coconut milk
1 tsp. sea salt
2 tbsp. cilantro, chopped, for garnish

Heat coconut oil, add cumin seeds and stir until they jump.  Add onions and cook until translucent.  Add tomatoes and cook until soft.  Add rest of ingredients, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.  Stir to prevent burning.  Serve as is or blend to make creamy.
